The Origin Story

Who Actually Is This Guy?

Developer, Medical Student, Music Composer & Graphic Designer — basically the kind of person who never learned to pick one thing and stick with it. Fortunately, that worked out.

Hey, I'm Shushank

I'm a multi-disciplinary creator based in India. By day I'm a medical student learning the intricacies of the human body. By night I'm a developer shipping privacy-first web tools. Somewhere in between, I'm composing music and designing things.

My core belief: the best digital products respect their users. That means no unnecessary data collection, no dark patterns, no "we value your privacy" while doing the opposite. Just clean, functional, honest software.

I genuinely enjoy the creative friction between disciplines. The systematic thinking I use in medicine makes me a better debugger. The aesthetic sense from design makes everything I build look less like it was assembled by someone who just discovered CSS. And music? Music just keeps me sane.

The Journey (Abridged)
Some things happened. Here's the summary.
2024 — Present
Independent Music Artist
Released original compositions on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and 150+ platforms globally. Produced, mixed, and mastered independently. The "independently" part is either admirable or concerning — still figuring that out.
2024 — Present
Launched PDF Tools Suite
Built and shipped pdf.shushank.in — a fully client-side PDF utility platform. No uploads, no servers, no privacy nightmares. Just fast, private, and stupidly useful.
2023 — Present
MBBS — Medical Studies
Pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. Learning what happens inside the human body — turns out it's more complex than a JavaScript runtime error, though debugging both involves similar levels of despair.
2021 — Present
Self-Taught Developer & Designer
Started with "what even is HTML" and ended up building production-grade web tools. The journey involved a lot of Stack Overflow, a few identity crises, and eventually shipping things that actually work.
Earlier
Music & Art — The Beginning
Grew up fascinated by music theory, visual art, and the way design communicates without words. These turned out to be the most useful skills I never formally studied.
Privacy by Default

I build tools where data never leaves the user's device. Privacy isn't a feature — it's the foundation. (Yes, I practice what I preach.)

Performance Over Bloat

No framework when vanilla works better. Fast load times are a form of respect. Also, nobody wants to stare at a spinner on a portfolio site.

Obsessive Craft

Spacing, typography, motion, color — users feel these things even when they can't articulate them. I notice when they're off, so I fix them. Probably at 1 AM.

Fun Facts (That Are Actually Fun)
  • I composed music before I wrote my first line of code. The code came out more structured.
  • I've memorized the brachial plexus. I still forget to commit before making sweeping refactors.
  • Best code output: midnight–3 AM. Medical studies output: also midnight–3 AM. Sleep is overrated, apparently.
  • I run Cloudflare WARP and manually audit my own apps for data leaks. Occupational hazard of actually caring about privacy.
